My name is Magdalena Saldaña and I am
from Chile. I’m journalist and I did my B.A. and Master’s degree at the
University of Concepción, in the south of my country. I worked as a
reporter during 3 years and then I worked at the university teaching Research Methodology and Public Opinion.
Now I’m studying a PhD program in
Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Texas, in the
beautiful city of Austin. This is my first year and I expect to graduate
in 2016.
My research interests are new
technologies and social networks, and their impact on traditional media.
I am particularly interested in understanding how new media platforms,
such as Facebook or Twitter, are re-shaping the way in which people
manage information, and also how the media agenda has been modified by
these social networks.
As a graduate student, I am a Teaching Assistant for the Course “Digital Storytelling Basics”, lectured by Prof. Bob Garcia-Buckalew.
